Traits of being Born Again
I am not sure where I read this but it may help you with knowing you are saved and give you assurance. There are traits of being saved. Do you know them? Some of the results of being born again are found in the Book of 1st John. So how do you know you are born again? 1 John 2:3-6 (KJV) 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
The key words being "as he." Look up "as he" in 1st John and see if you are born again by what traits you demonstrate. Aside from your heart belief in Jesus you also have traits. 1 John 1:7 (KJV) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 2:6 (KJV) He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 3:2 (KJV) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:3 (KJV) And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 1 John 3:7 (KJV) Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 1 John 3:12 (KJV) Not as Cain, [who] was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. 1 John 3:23 (KJV) And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1 John 4:17 (KJV) Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
So do you live "as he" commanded and did himself? 1 John 2:9-11 (KJV) 9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. 10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. 11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. So how is your walk? 1 John 3:3-7 (KJV) 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. 6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
Do you find yourself sinning habitually and not bothered? If so check your salvation.
Do you love the brethren? 1 John 3:14-15 (KJV) 14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not [his] brother abideth in death. 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Are you aware each of those who are born again are brothers and sister for eternity? 1 John 3:24 (KJV) And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. 1 John 4:2-3 (KJV) 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Do you love others? 1 John 4:7-8 (KJV) 7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. Zechariah 8:17 (KJV) And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these [are things] that I hate, saith the LORD. 1 John 4:13-16 (KJV) 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son [to be] the Saviour of the world. 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
To day is a good day to check your heart, your walk, and your traits. Love you all brothers and sisters! 1 John 5:13 (KJV) These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
We are going to discuss Doctrine. Doctrine is the truthful body of teaching, Holy Spirit inspired,drawn from the Bible. 1st Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
These teaching items are what the Bible affirms about the great many aspects of who Jesus is, who God is, Sin, Salvation, and future revelation. When we look at scripture, we want to slow down and consider who the author is, the time period, who the audience is, and what the context is about. We want to consider the historical, doctrinal and spiritual aspect of words and verses. This is why it is important to have a good Strong's Bible Concordance to assist with definitions as they were applied when written. In 2nd Timothy 3:16-17 we find All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Noah Webster 1828 states, The act of teaching "Mark 4:2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine," Jesus was teaching them his doctrine. Learning; knowledge. Whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Isaiah 28:9. The truths of the gospel in general. That they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things. Titus 2:1. Instruction and confirmation in the truths of the gospel. 2 Timothy 3:10."
The first thing is to have an Authorized King James 1611 Bible. There are so many deceptive Bibles out there that remove doctrinal aspects and water down God's Word. The second is to believe what the Lord says in his Word. In other words, "believe the Book." Take God at his word on faith. It is okay to learn from commentaries, other authors books and even secular information as long as you don't alter God's Word. Romans 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. When you read the Bible ask God for wisdom, pray for it. I like to use Dr. Peter Ruckman's work on teaching, How to Teach the Bible.. For an Example look at Romans 1:1. "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called [to be] an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God," Who is the subject? "It is the SERVANT Paul who serves, Who is Paul? He was an APOSTLE called to be sent. So a Servant and an Apostle must be separated unto something, not just from something." Next we look at the Gospel of God. The Gospel or "Holy Scriptures" In Acts 17:2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, so get out your Concordance and look up "scripture." Look at all references in the Bible on that word. This short summary points you in the right direction to gain truth and learn. To recap: Look at the Historical, Doctrinal, and Scriptural aspects of each verse. Pray for wisdom. James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. Believe!
For many believers Divorce is a touchy subject. We serve a God who is rich in mercy and grace. Jeremiah 17:9 The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it? Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: So know we know according to Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool [is] right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel [is] wise.
Whether you have been married 3 months or 30 years marriage is an institution ordained by God. 1st Corinthians 7:38 So then he that giveth [her] in marriage doeth well;
but he that giveth [her] not in marriage doeth better. Hebrews 13:4 Marriage [is] honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
Husbands are you aware that God commands you to love your wife? Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Wives are you aware of what the Bible says about your husband? Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife [see] that she reverence [her] husband. The Bible has much to say about pre-marriage, marriage, and divorce.
The question a person should ask before marriage is "Is this person the one who God would have me marry?" 2nd Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? Marriage is "flesh joining flesh." Matthew 19:4-6 read the whole chapter.. In the churches of today young people shack up before marriage. It is tantamount to car shopping/buying. They want to test drive and see if they are compatible and if not, move on to the next. God calls any sex before marriage fornication. What does the Bible say? 1st Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. (unsaved) At the same time some churches take the position if you commit fornication and or adultery you are going to hell. Now those sins may not send you to hell if you are a believer but it will cut off your communication with the Lord. To summarize about divorce, Look at the whole 7th chapter of 1st Corinthians.
Look at the whole 10th Chapter of Mark especially verse 10, And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. God takes vows made unto him seriously. when a couple both loved each other and stood before a ministerand got married they made vows to God and each other. Ecclesiastes 5:4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for [he hath] no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. So here we are at Divorce (being loosed from flesh) with both sides having a position of what and why, made worse if involving children. In the age of "no fault" divorce God still sees the hearts of the man and wife. He knows! Now the Divorce is final and each has stayed single or remarried. There are only three permissible grounds for leaving/divorcing a spouse after exhausing all Christian counseling. The death of a spouse releases you for one case. Jesus said in Matthew 19: 9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery. The second case is fornication. The third is Read the whole chapter of 1st Corinthians 7. Verse 15; Desertion is the third. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such [cases]: but God hath called us to peace.
So what does Jesus say? Look at one woman who has joined flesh with five men. The Samaritan woman at the well. John 4:18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. God sees the heart. Now what does one do to make amends? Some things in life cannot be repaired with men/women. Get right with God confess to him your sin ask for forgiveness and sin no more.
1st John 1:8-9 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
The Lord Jesus forgives all our
sin. Do not use the laws of divorce as a free ticket to
keep sinning. If you are unsaved. Ask the Lord to save you
and be your Savior.
